    This was the first ship to carry the name HMS Penelope she was a sixth rate, 24-gun ship.

     

    Built by Baker of Liverpool, launched 25-Jun-1778,

    114ft 6in long, 32ft wide and of 524 tons builders measurement.

     

    Captured Oct-1780 by her Spanish prisoners.
